RELATIONS INTERNATIONALES
Un des points forts de l'action globale de BIS
Les relations internationales sont un des éléments forts de l'action globale de la BIS dans le champ des sciences de l'information et de la documentation. Une association professionnelle telle que la BIS a les mêmes préoccupations que d'autres associations professionnelles dans le monde, et plus particulièrement en Europe: renouvellement des adhérents, évolutions du métier, lobbying, communication, insertion dans la société de l'information ... Pouvoir comparer ce qui se fait en Suisse et à l'étranger, appliquer des méthodes qui ont fait leurs preuves ailleurs, entretenir un réseau professionnel sont autant d'avantages pour BIS et ses membres.
Le fait de s'inscrire dans une action internationale est un des éléments constitutifs de l'identité de BIS. Les relations internationales de BIS se concrétisent par des actions ciblées: que ce soit par sa participation régulière aux travaux de l'IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions), son implication dans le processus du Sommet mondial sur la société de l'information (SMSI) avec l'action du SLIR (Swiss Librarians for International Relations), ses échanges avec des «associations-sœurs» en Europe (Allemagne, Autriche, France essentiellement), BIS en sort renforcé.
